Make the most of your archives

Discover how your organisation’s records can inspire, engage and connect with new audiences

Did you know that every organisation has an archive?

Every organisation - whether large or small - has archives, both physical and digital. Whilst your organisation may not be an archive or library, every organisation creates records that have enduring value and chronicle the course of an organisation’s lifetime.

It’s vital to care for your organisation’s archives, think strategically about their use, and, where appropriate, make them accessible, as they can be a powerful asset to promote your values, connect with communities and showcase your history, identity and sense of place.

We’re encouraging all Make Your Mark members to post their archive volunteering roles on the Make Your Mark portal, as 25% of all searches on the Make Your Mark portal are for archive-related opportunities. That means there's a keen and enthusiastic audience actively looking for ways to get involved. Don’t miss the chance to connect with them!

Whether you're looking for help with cataloguing, digitisation, or research support, this is a fantastic way to connect with people passionate about history, archives and heritage.
