Skills for Heritage: Could your organisation host a supported volunteering experience?

Make Your Mark is looking for organisations working with Scotland's history, culture and nature to support a new skills development programme in partnership with Keep Scotland Beautiful and Access to Industry. Skills for Heritage supports people who face barriers to employment to develop skills through structured learning and supported volunteering.

We are looking for organisations that could offer a supported volunteering experience lasting around six to eight weeks from January 2027. The days and hours would be agreed with the participant and host organisation. We would also ask the organisation to provide a short reference at the end of the experience.

Participants have expressed interest in a range of volunteering activities, including archaeology, environmental conversation, digital and communications, archives, libraries and collections, research, and visitor engagement.

This volunteering experience will support participants to put their learning into practice, develop new skills and confidence, learn more about different roles and organisations and contribute to the care and sharing of Scotland's places, collections and stories.

Make Your Mark will support host organisations throughout the process, offering guidance and practical support as well as regular check ins between your organisation and the volunteer.

If you would like to find out more contact the Make Your Mark Campaign Coordinator, Louise Walker - hello@makeyourmark.scot.
